We are still here. The weather is if anything hotter. I am not coping well.  Even the local Greeks are complaining about how hot and sticky it is.

We tried to get more domestic chores done.  We first went to the port police to renew our Greek boat registration (called a Depka). Other than waiting in a queue that went well as far as the registration goes.  However, that threw up a different problem.  The port policeman strongly advised us that we print out and keep the application form and receipt for the cruising tax.  He said it could be checked at any time.  He even offered to print them out for us if we sent them to him by email.  The problem is that Richard can only find the application form, but no receipt.  He can’t remember getting a receipt but I am certain we had confirmation that payment was accepted and that was how we knew we had succeeded in paying it.  We do have a notice of the payment from our bank in the UK, but we don’t know if that would be sufficient.  More worries.

We then went to the big A&B supermarket.  We walked there, which was an extremely hot thing to do.  At least the shop was air conditioned. We bought tons of water and drinks in the light of this weather and took a taxi back to the boat.

We saw and heard nothing about the diver who is supposed to look at our lazy line.  We were just about to give up and go to the pool when he turned up.  At first he said everything was fine and there was nothing he could do.  Then he went down and did move the lazy line to the left and suggested we put the line on the other side of the boat.  Doing that helped a bit and we guess that is as good as we are going to get.

So we finally made it to the pool.  Had to go in the water nearly every half hour just to keep sane.  We had intended to stay until 6 or 7pm, but suddenly dozens of children arrived for some sort of party, so we left.

Back at the boat the clouds were building up and we hoped to get some relief by the predicted thunder storms.  It did rain for a few minutes, but nothing to clear the air.   There is no sign of even a gentle breeze.  We will try to get some sleep, but I am not optimistic.
